Auto Insurance Glossary

Primary Policyholder

The primary policyholder is the person who serves as the main point of contact with the insurance company. Since he/she is the main point of contact, the primary policyholder has to provide the insurance company with an (email) address in order to receive account updates, renewal notices, and other important communication.

Typically, the primary policyholder is also the person billed for the policy, though any person listed on the policy can make the premium payment.
